In the early nineteen hundreds a great floating palace set out from Southampton, England headed for a world tour. Her itinerary was to be New York, Baton Rouge (Louisiana), Asuncion (Paraguay), the Hawaiian Islands, Nandi (Fiji), Rotorua (New Zealand) en route to its turnaround point, Canberra (A.C.T.) It was then to return to Europe with maiden ports of call at Mt Hagen (New Guinea), New Delhi (India), and returning by the Suez Canal, at Luxor (Egypt).
It never made it and there were many disappointed passengers in Baton Rouge, Asuncion, Hawaii, Nandi, Rotorua, Mt Hagen, New Delhi and Luxor. Not to mention a lot of Australians returning home on tickets to Canberra.
