1965-1972 The Vietnam War
There was a happy nation
Thought she knew the score
Sent eight hundred men into
A bloody Asian war.
The bloody Asian war
Went longer than she thought
So the less than happy nation
Sent four thousand for support.
The fresh support she sent
Proved simply not enough
So then the nation not so happily
Sent a Task Force to get tough.
But the Task Force that was tough
Didn't spread round too much dread
So the scarcely happy nation
Sent ten thousand troops instead.
The ten thousand troops she sent
Just weren't enough to win,
And the seriously unhappy nation
She went into a spin.
The spin she settled into
Left her citizens in doubt
So the decidedly unhappy nation
Decided to pull out.
