1840 - Ten Little Governors
Founding the colony makes him sick,
Phillip now resigns in pique.
When the Rum Corps spits in his face,
Hunter goes home in disgrace.
King cannot control rum mania,
So he settles poor Tasmania.
Bligh and the army clash over rum
But the booze rebellion dies in the bum.
Reforms, new towns, convicts, all shine,
Macquarie's still forced to resign.
Lord Brisbane's moods get awful shitty,
He chucks a fit and founds a city.
Dreary Darling rules by decree,
Makes public service convict free.
Bourke polices Port Phillip Bay,
Hands out lands at ten pounds p.a.
Under Gipps the squatters lament,
See the birth of our first parliament.
Under Fitzroy great euphoria,
Goldfields, laws, and Victoria.
