1787 - The Incredible Hulks
For a hundred years or more the Pom
Deports his convicts overseas
To zones removed and draws therefrom
A life of luxury and ease.
For a hundred years or more he mails
His lags to shores American,
Since irrespective of the gaols
What chains can't do a ferry can.
But selfish Yanks bring things to a halt
In Boston unsuspectedly,
And damp the Poms like a thunderbolt
With convicts unexpectedly.
For lack of space, in barge-like hulks
They're housed with fumes most noxious,
Their numbers swell and Britain sulks
With their collective conscious.
Crammed and chained on transports hoy,
Devised by shipwrights bribable,
The outcasts get the chance to enjoy
Conditions indescribable.
'Where to send them, what can we try?'
Lord Sydney picks locality,
And indirectly earns, thereby,
Geographic immortality.
